    Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) enables all students to reach their highest academic potential through innovative ASII courses, course-based academic support, and student-centered educational strategies. The ASC provides free one-one-one course-based tutoring, academic success coaching along with course-specific workshops to assist students with test-taking techniques, time management skills, and best practices for learning.

When I first like came to the ASC, I had a kind of a hard time getting adjusted to my classes at first. So I really needed like a place where I can come, and study, and eventually turned into my second home. When I tutored them, and then they go, they take their exam or something, and then they come back on the next day or the next week. And they say, like, Hey, thank you so much, you helped me so much, like I did so good on this exam. I'm so excited. Now I'm being able to understand better and all that. So it's just, it's awesome. I know how to study for math and for history, but psychology like I couldn't figure it out. So I came here to figure out like, how to study for it. They said, okay, I'll quiz you over this stuff. And then there are different methods to studying. I was failing psychology. Now I have a B in there, because I learned how to study. So it's definitely worth the time. So the ASC is a place where you can come and we have multiple, multiple resources. Students can come to learn about the different subjects offered on campus, and to get a personal relationship with the tutors here. The tutors, some do one on one help, some do group help. They have every subject. So I thought, oh, maybe it's just English, Math. No it's like Biology, all that stuff. So I thought, oh okay, so they will know what I'm asking. Our peer coaches also help if you don't know how to study for your next test, because you bombed your last one, and you're really confused. Our peer coaches help with all kinds of things, and they're great. I mean, it's very helpful to have someone who is actually like, helping you to keep track of everything you need to do. And like having someone to tell you, hey, so in this class, you're not doing so great. Why is that? Can I help you with something? Can I help you? Okay, let me send you to a tutor for writing. So that's where there's gonna help. I've always been nervous coming into tutoring, especially since like high school, because I thought, oh, would they be like, tired of me if I kept asking the same question. So when I came here, and I like, went to tutoring, they're so nice and very patient to me. If you're a student, and you're considering to come here to the Academic Success Center, to get help with any of your classes, come, you can stay as long as you want. You can ask whatever you want. We'll try to help you as much as we can, because that's what we're here for. We're all students. So we're actually like, willing to help each other. When you come here, you're talking to another student. So you get that hands-on, like teaching approach. I've benefited greatly from coming here. The most important thing is to recognize that you can't go through college alone, and that's what the ASC is here for. We're here to give you someone so that you're not walking alone.
